Ropossum

Ropossum is a video game design system. It assists the game designer in the design and optimisation of a physics-based video game. Ropossum ensures that the human-designed levels are physically possible.

SketchaWorld

SketchaWorld uses procedural sketching for game world design. Designers sketch a landscape and add features like roads and cites. The system then generates a 3D world while ensuring the generated terrain fits in with its surrounding (e.g. by adding a bridge to cross a river).

Tanagra

Tanagra uses procedural content generation to assist game designers with 2D level design. The designer ‘sketches’ a level in the editor, while the system continuously generates game geometry.

Terrain Sketching

Video game designers can use this sketching interface system to create terrain. The designer draws ‘the silhouette, spine and bounding curves of both extruding (hills and mountains) and embedding landforms (river courses and canyons).’ The system then transforms the sketch into a realistic 3D landscape.

This system generates spaceship hulls in order to match a user’s visual taste as well as conform to a number of constraints aimed for playability and game balance. The system generates a set of hulls, which the user rates. The user’s preferences affect the generation of the next set of hulls.

Recommender for Game Mechanics

This system recommends to a game designer elements such as sprites and mechanics during the video game development process. Based on what the designer creates, the system provides new suggestions or recommendations that the designer can accept or reject.

Sentient World

Sentient World helps video game designers create maps. The designer creates a rough terrain sketch. Sentient World then creates several procedurally generated maps for the designer to choose from. The result is a high resolution map that the designer may then continue to iteratively refine by repeating the process.
