Impro-Visor

Impro-Visor is a musical notation system that collaborates with a musician to compose music. A musician can use Impro-Visor to notate a solo, while the system can generate accompanying licks of music. Impro-Visor can also provide feedback on the composition by, for example, colouring notes that are dissonant or consonant with the harmony.

LEMu

LEMu generates transitions between musical scores for live electronic music. The system is designed for non-experts and includes a Morphing Table interface ‘where users manipulate blocks on a large surface to control musical morphing transitions.’

GeNotator

GeNotator is a MIDI application used by composers to evolve music. GeNotator uses evolutionary algorithms to generate interesting music based on parameters set by the composer. The user controls ‘such factors as population size, mutation likelihood and designating which parents partake in breeding. By auditioning and scoring phenotypes, the user exerts influence on the direction the evolutionary process follows.’

Music

BeatBender

BeatBender helps musicians create unique and aesthetically-pleasing beats. The musician sets constraints that direct six computer percussionists, who in turn influence each other to create a new beat.

Clap-along

Clap-along is an interactive system that allows a human musician and the computer to create a rhythmic duet. Both the human and the computer simultaneously play a 4-bar clapping pattern. They negotiate with each other like in an improvised performance, continually responding to the other agent’s music by adjusting their own.

Continuator

The Continuator is a music generation system that ‘is able to learn and generate music in any style, either in standalone mode, as continuations of musician’s input, or as interactive improvisation back up.’ The musician inputs music, and the system generates new music in the same style.
